PLTW-DMAR

We use PLTW’s Design & Modeling and Automation & Robotics curriculum for our STEM electives at TJHS.

Design and Modeling

In Design and Modeling (DM), students will trace the history, development, and influence of handmade drafting designs, the advantages of computer-aided drafting (CAD), and analyze the benefits of functional prototypes. Once schematic drawings are completed, students will then learn how to take their design to a prototype phase using materials on hand and other MakerSpace tools.

Automation and Robotics

In Automation and Robotics (AR), students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms.
