United States History

“If you don’t know history, you don’t know anything; you’re a leaf that doesn’t know it’s part of a tree.”

—Michael Crichton in Timeline

This year we will examine a variety of historical sources and perspectives to study the period of United States history from the American Revolution through the Second Industrial Revolution. Connections to the 20th and 21st centuries are made throughout the course, bringing relevance to learning. Civics, economics, and geography are also key disciplines used to further understanding of important issues in the United States and the world. A focus on important people, places, themes, and events will guide students’ understanding of the historical past’s connection to the present day.
